What to Expect
It is important to understand what services are provided in hospice.
What you can expect Redwood Hospice to provide:
- Visits to the patient’s location by the hospice physician, nurse, medical social worker, home health aide, and chaplain/spiritual adviser as well as other services by the care team.
- Medication to alleviate symptoms, including pain relief.
- Medical equipment and supplies including a hospital bed, wheelchairs or walkers, oxygen, bandages, and catheters.
- Additional services like physical and occupational therapy, nutritional counseling, and speech therapy may also be scheduled.
- Inpatient care on short-term basis as needed if home care is not adequate.
- Temporary relief for caregivers.
- Counseling for the patient and loved ones for grief and loss; after death, family members continue receiving bereavement counseling for up to 13 months.
Redwood Hospice is unique because patients and family have a dedicated physician who follows and manages their care with the team of other clinicians throughout the individual’s hospice experience. At all times, we focus on what is best for the patient and caregivers, including care to provide the most comfort and ease possible.
